Once you have prepared and conditioned your body to be able to do this, lifting the heavy weight becomes easier.
The same can be said for preparing the skin in the lead up to a medical microneedling treatment.
To ensure you receive the best results and get the most our of your treatment, it is important to prepare the skin and its cells and systems so that they are functioning at their peak when the treatment is performed.
To do this, we have a few steps you can take –
- Introduce nutritional supplements – Each and every cell of the body is created with a specialised cell membrane. This cell membrane allows for important messaging between cells, leading to a healthy functioning skin. Medical microneedling will promote health cell to cell communication. To ensure correct communication, the cell membrane must be working adequately. To help strengthen and support cell membrane health, we can introduce nutritional supplements. When looking at nutritional supplements, look for a good quality EPA and DHA or ‘Omega – 3’ as they play an important role throughout the body and as influential structural components of the cell membrane. If the cell membrane is functioning well, vital messages can be transported more effectively between cells – resulting in optimal cellular health and functioning and a better outcome from your medical microneedling treatment!

Contraindications for microneedling;
Mircroneedling
- Haemophilia or other blood clotting disorders
- Ongoing use of blood thinning medication (acetyl-salicylic acid, warfarin, aspirin, heparin)
- Unregulated diabetes millitus
- Any form of active acne in the treatment area
- Dermatosis (eg skin tumours, keloids, or extreme susceptibility to keloid formation, solar keratosis, warts and or moles) in the treatment area
- Open wounds and or/eczema and or/rashes in the area of the treatment
- Scars younger then 6months
- Systemic infections and infectious diseases (eg hepatitis of types A,B,C,D,E or F; HIV infection) or acute local skin infections (herpes, rosacea)
- During chemotherapy, radiotherapy or high dosage of corticosteroid therapy (recommendation from 4 weeks before the start until 4 weeks after the end of the therapy)
- Up to 12months after plastic surgery operation in the area to be treated
